On Sunday April 12th the Columbia Fish and Game Muzzleloading group held its annual Spring Woods Walk. The weather was spectacular and the grounds were in great shape. This had a lot to do with our turn out of 38 shooters including 4 Junior shooters (16 yrs and younger) and many spectators. The 38 shooters were separated into 3 groups and moved onto the course. There were 12 Stations spread around the meadow. 10 of the Stations were a combination of steel reactive targets that had a harder target and an easier target. The shooter had to choose which target they would try to hit. The other two stations were one target at an extreme downward angle and the other was a moving target that had four turkey heads popping up from behind a log pile. I took about 3 hours for everyone to finish the course. At the end we had the following breakdowns:
- Charlie Hosler and Duane Bowman tied with a score of 35. Both only missed one target on the course. They had a shoot off at turkey heads at 25 yds, closest to the eye won. Charlie came out on top to take first place, Duane taking second.
- In the Junior category we had the following:
- Katie Charles took 1st Place with a score of 19
- Jase Hershey took 2nd Place with a score of 15
- Jessa Hershey took 3rd place with a score of 10
- Karson Charles took 4th place with a score of 9
After the shoot everyone enjoyed a great lunch of Hot dogs and sauerkraut and enough cookies, cupcakes and brownies to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth.
CF&G would like to thank everyone who attended, and we hope to see them at our Fall Shoot in September.
